To build on something Starhawk once said- to value mysteries we must see the world in ways that make possible the encounter with mystery. SoulPilgrim was born out of the soul-deep passion to seek the mysteries of Mother Earth; to reconnect with the land through the sacred act of Pilgrimage; to re-awaken the Divine through the beat of the drum; to let the mysteries unfurl their etheric tendrils around us, holding us in the fiercely soft embrace of sacred space.

Each step we take is bringing us closer to our knowing of these mysteries. Each song that comes forth in our circles sings witness to that which we cannot name except by singing it. Each beat of the drum that reverberates against the stones traces the echoes of the generations who have honored their rhythms before.
I am a percussionist, writer and web developer. At 19 years old, I dreamt of a beautiful goddess rising out of the ocean, calling out to me. At the time, I began studying African Brazilian and Cuban rhythms on percussion instruments. Many years later, I realized that this goddess was Yemanja, or Iemanja, as she is known in Brazil. I continue to explore and experience the mystical, transcendent aspects of Candomblé drumming, and am writing my dissertation for my doctoral degree in Mythological Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Born to a Mohawk mother and European father, I celebrate my connection to the land through both Native American tradition and the ancient Goddess traditions of Europe. I found the pilgrim’s path as a journalist and photographer on a quest to explore Women’s sacred connection to land. I will share the songs, art and movement of our ancestors on our journeys. I love a good laugh, and believe that a sense of humor is imperative on life’s journey. In daily life I am an author, photography teacher and web designer.
